The highest good is like water 최고의 선은 물과 같다

The highest good is like water.
Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.
 
In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
In ruling, be just.
In business, be competent.
In action, watch the timing.

최고의 선은 물과 같다.

물은 삼라만상에 생명을 주기만 할 뿐 누구와도 다투지 않는다.

물은 인간이 거부하는 어떤 곳이라도 흐르며 곧 도(道)와 같다.

 

거주를 함에 있어서는, 육지와 가까운 곳에 살라.

명상을 함에 있어서는, 마음 속 깊이 들어가라.

타인과 거래를 함에 있어서는, 상냥하고 친절하라.

말을 함에 있어서는, 진실하라.

판정을 함에 있어서는, 공정하라.

사업을 함에 있어서는, 능력을 갖추라.

행동을 함에 있어서는, 때를 기다리라.
